Yarn twisting and cabling is currently used in woven and tufted carpets; in woven rugs for their various technical and aesthetic structures, to increase the yarn size, change the coverage and resistance. It is also possible to mix yarns of different types, colours or dye affinities. In order to retain properties achieved by twisting or cabling, the yarn is generally heat set at high temperature.
This treatment ensures durability of the pile appearance, as it reinforces its resistance – a basic requirement for carpets and rugs.

Currently, twisted and heat set products represent 80% of the American market, 55% - 60% of the European market and only 35% of the other markets. Countries who have made little use of this technique until now are likely to progress quickly.

SwissTex France today offers a wide range comprising of 3 different types of machines with mechanical spindles (CD / DT / CDDT 10). They are characterised by spindle gauge and designed to process each type of yarn as economically as possible and in compliance with an industrial and ergonomic environment. SwissTex France equipment can also be used for twisting knitting yarns, medium and heavy count cotton yarns, some continuous synthetic yarns, cabling of CF PP yarns, sewing yarns, etc...
